About the Item

An antique Japanese Meiji period cloisonne vase with an eagle. Circa early 20th century, 1900s. The vase is decorated with an autumn landscape with white chrysanthemums and an image of an eagle sitting on tree branches, as well as flying forest birds on a bright blue background. The neck and base are decorated with a complex geometric pattern with floral motifs. The inclusion of floral and foliage motifs, as well as birds, is a common theme in Japanese cloisonne, reflecting nature and its significance in Japanese culture.
