About the Item

Bo Scullman Unique Studio Stoneware Vase, Sweden Late 20th Century – Signed Scandinavian Modern Ceramic A unique hand-thrown stoneware vase by Swedish ceramic artist Bo Scullman (born 1946), created in his own workshop in the late 20th century. This signed studio piece exemplifies Scandinavian Modern ceramics with a subtle, painterly glaze and refined organic form. The vase has a softly rounded, almost ovoid body that tapers gently toward a narrow cylindrical neck. This weed pot vase is measuring approximately 13.5 cm in height and 10 cm in diameter, it has an intimate, sculptural presence — equally suited for display as a standalone art object or for a single stem. The surface is glazed in muted, atmospheric tones of soft pink and pale blue, blending in vertical, cloud-like movements across the body. The glaze has a delicate, slightly mottled texture, creating depth and variation that shifts beautifully in the light. Near the neck, the tones deepen subtly, adding contrast and visual focus. The overall effect is understated yet expressive — a hallmark of high-quality Nordic studio ceramics. Signed on the underside “Bo Scullman,” this piece is entirely handmade and one of a kind. About the Artist – Bo Scullman Bo Bertil Scullman, born October 8, 1946, is a Swedish ceramicist trained at Nyckelviksskolan and Konstfack in Stockholm. Since 1970, he has shared a workshop in Spånga with Kerstin Heurlin-Scullman, producing functional and artistic stoneware.
