About the Item

A sculptural late 20th-century studio pottery vessel featuring an organically contoured abstract form and richly layered surface decoration. Hand-built with fluid, asymmetrical lines, the vessel is finished in softly blended bands of muted purple, sage green, celadon, ochre, and earth tones, evoking a landscape-like, painterly effect. #5113 The recessed opening allows the piece to function as a small vessel while retaining a strong sculptural presence. Signed and numbered on the underside, indicating individual studio production rather than commercial manufacture. The emphasis on form, color, and surface places this work squarely within the modern studio ceramics movement. A compelling decorative object suitable for display on a shelf, console, or pedestal.
