About the Item

Vintage sculptural hand-blown vase features ombre effect on the elongated body, with deep burgundy red at the rim fading into mocha brown at the base through the abstract free-flowing patterns of fused glass. The colored glass is encased in clear glass layer in sommerso technique, adding depth and complexity to the pattern. The vase is signed and dated by the artist at the bottom on the pontil area; it is one of the earlier, harder to find works by Correll. The vase is in very good vintage condition and is ready to be displayed. The elegant and decorative vase will make a great gift to a collector or design enthusiast and will complement various interior design styles, from Traditional to Mid Century Modern, Organic Modern, Eclectic, Scandinavian Modern, Japandi, Transitional, Grand Millennial, Glam, Maximalist, Collected, or Contemporary. Charles Correll started working with glass at the Jamestown Glasshouse in 1971, while attending the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. He has lived through the history of the studio glass movement, working at Nourot Glass Studio in California, then opening his first studio in Holyoke, Massachusetts. His works are displayed in craft and arts galleries nationwide. Currently he works in his studio in Conway, Massachusetts. We are offering a pair of hand blown glasses by Charles Correll in a separate listing.

Sculptural Organic Modern vase was hand blown with thin layer of red glass underlying the two-toned fused glass. The abstract, graphic pattern of dark red, almost burgundy colored fused glass on light beige background is swirling around the curves of the vase; the whole structure is enclosed in thin layer of clear glass in sommerso technique, adding depth and definition to the piece. Minimal shape of the vase allows the bold flow of the pattern to take the center stage. The vase is signed and dated by the artist on the bottom with "Vitrix Hot Glass...
