This pair of Chinese blue and white porcelain mantel vases was made in China during the early 20th century in the Kangxi style. The tall cylindrical bodies are decorated with landscape panels in deep cobalt blue set against a rare molded dotted ground. The softly rendered scenes depict pavilions, trees, and rivers winding through distant hills, creating the impression of landscapes emerging through mist. The textured dotted ground provides a strong contrast to the smooth painted reserves, giving the porcelain a distinctive surface. The rich cobalt blue stands out crisply against the white porcelain, emphasizing both the painting and the molded decoration. Displayed on a mantel, console, or library cabinet, this pair adds the timeless character of Chinese blue and white porcelain and the quiet atmosphere of traditional landscape painting to a room.
