About the Item

Glass vase made using the fluoroengraving technique, which involves applying enamels to the body of a glass tube. Made by Muller Frès Luneville. The heart of the company was formed by five brothers (Henri, Desire, Eugene, Pierre, and Victor), belonging to a family of glassmakers, who trained and worked at the Galle factory. Henri opened a decoration studio in Lunéville in 1895, soon joined by his brothers. It became the foremost glass studio in France, with a large number of original designs, created using a wide variety of new methods and materials. In the years before World War I, its production was technically excellent and highly creative. The studio sometimes used up to six or seven different layers of colored glass to create its famous, highly prized cameos, along lines similar to those of Galle and the Art Nouveau movement: its production used nature as a decorative theme.
