About the Item

This striking ‘Gea’ polychrome glass vase was designed by Gae Aulenti (1927–2012) for Venini in 1995 and produced in 2003. The sculptural spherical form, measuring 30 cm in diameter and 30 cm in height, showcases a vibrant composition of fused colors—deep greens, amber yellows, warm oranges, and transparent tones—creating a dynamic, almost geological surface. The thick glass layers appear organically fractured and flowing, highlighting Venini’s exceptional mastery of contemporary Murano glassmaking. Aulenti’s design transforms the traditional vase into a powerful decorative object, balancing artistic expression with refined craftsmanship. The base bears the engraved signature “Venini 2003 Gae Aulenti.” Both functional and sculptural, this piece exemplifies the collaboration between one of Italy’s most influential designers and the historic Venetian glass furnace.
