About the Item

A sculptural Scandinavian modern art glass vase produced by Kosta Glassworks, Sweden, circa 1955–1965. Executed in heavy clear optical crystal, the piece features a striking internal lens-shaped bubble and a secondary air inclusion, creating dramatic light refraction and sculptural depth. The organic asymmetrical form reflects the experimental studio glass work produced at Kosta during the mid-century modern period. Hand-engraved “Kosta” on the base. Pieces of this type are often attributed to Swedish designer Vicke Lindstrand, who served as artistic director at Kosta during the 1950s and developed many of the optical crystal techniques and sculptural glass forms associated with the factory’s mid-century production. A refined and elegant example of Swedish modernist art glass that works beautifully as a small vase or glass sculpture. Condition Very good vintage condition with light age-related wear.
