About the Item

An impressive large Chinese Export Rose Medallion porcelain vase, richly hand-painted with the vibrant palette and intricate decoration that have made Rose Medallion porcelains among the most celebrated forms of Chinese export ceramics. The baluster-form vase is lavishly decorated with alternating cartouches depicting elegant courtly figures in palace interiors and lush garden settings, interspersed with colorful birds, butterflies, peonies, chrysanthemums, and flowering branches. The reserves are surrounded by dense gilt scrollwork and floral ornamentation, while the flared rim and foot are finished with classic geometric Greek key borders. Executed with exceptional attention to detail, the vase showcases the traditional Famille Rose enameling techniques that flourished during the late Qing period to early 20th century. Its substantial scale makes it an outstanding statement piece, equally suited for display on a pedestal, console, or as a floor vase. Dimensions: * Height: 24.25 in. * Diameter: 10.25 in.
