About the Item

Set of Three oversized glasses made in the 1960s,by the glassmakers of Empoli, Italy, introduced a distinctive trend in interior design by producing glassware on a remarkably large scale. By expanding the proportions of traditional vessels—such as bottles, chalices, and brandy snifters—these artisans created unique, decorative statements that became highly popular in mid-century modern homes.The large surface area was ideal for showcasing traditional Italian textures, such as the diamond-shaped optic pattern. Rather than serving a practical purpose, these large-scale pieces were designed to catch the eye. Their clean lines, elongated necks, and generous curves allowed them to function as sculptural art pieces, valued for their form and color.
