About the Item

Murano Scavo glass vase by Alfredo Barbini, 1970s A large black of 26.2 cm high in Scavo technique Murano glass vase, designed by Alfredo Barbini in the 70s The Scavo technique is a unique Murano glass technique from the 1950s. Developed by Alfredo Barbini. Alfredo Barbini's method recreates the weathered, dusty and matte look of ancient Roman glass that has been buried underground for centuries. The glass has a rough, matte and opaque surface. It often resembles petrified moss or sand, as if it were an archaeological find, this is when the master glassblower applies specific minerals and metal oxides to the surface of the hot glass. When this cools, an etching and cloudy effect is created. The measurement is 26,2 cm high and 15,7 cm diagonal
