About the Item

Pablo Picasso (Spain, 1881 - 1973) Glazed Earthenware "Tètes" Pitcher. The Têtes pitcher was created in Vallauris, France in late 1940's, early 1950s. Pitcher is known for its distinctive design featuring a stylized face, incorporating human features -eyes, nose, mouth-- into the pitcher. The Têtes pitcher is an example of Picasso's ability to transform everyday objects into works of art, blending his playful experimentation with ceramic form and his talent for abstract design. This pitcher has become and iconic example of his later artistic production. Impressed and glazed manufacturer's mark to verso 'Edition Picasso'.
