About the Item

landscape scenes with ladies and dated 1897. These very finely and lightly made vases stand raised on a square pedestal base with egg shaped bodies with narrow necks and large pouring shaped top rims. Raised loop handles with horned bearded mask terminals. Both have been intricately hand painted with scenes of ladies dressed in the fashion of the time within a landscape with finely painted floral sprigs to the opposite sides. The vases have salmon pink painted bases, necks, masks and handles and these have been highlighted with gilding. Both vases have black printed makers marks to the bases with date codes for 1897 and are numbered 1144. Provenance: Acquired from the UK Art Market. In good presentable condition with light wear associated with age and use. One vase has had a professional restoration to the raised handle although well executed.
