About the Item

An exquisite small French Art Deco pressed glass vase, attributed to Lalique, circa 1920s–1930s. Though unmarked, the design and quality are consistent with the refined elegance and craftsmanship characteristic of Lalique’s glassworks from this period. The vase features beautifully molded geometric and floral motifs emblematic of the Art Deco era. Its clear glass displays exceptional brilliance although difficult to fully capture in photographs, it presents a luminous clarity in person. Pressed glass, an innovative technique first patented by John P. Bakewell in 1825, involves pressing molten glass into a mold with a plunger to achieve intricate surface designs. This method became highly popular among European glassmakers during the early 20th century for producing decorative objects with precise detailing and sculptural depth. A lovely decorative accent for collectors of French Art Deco glass, perfect for display on a vanity, console, or bookshelf.
