About the Item

This white and gold porcelain vase was produced by Heinrich & Co. in Selb, Germany, during the 1960s. Its bell-shaped body and wide, flattened profile recall the futuristic forms associated with Space Age design. The vase is finished in glossy white porcelain and encircled by a broad satin-gold band. The contrast between the glossy white surface, muted gold decoration and clean geometric form gives the vase a refined, balanced appearance. Scattered reddish spots are visible within the gold band, most likely representing age-related changes to the metallic decoration. These are part of the vase’s vintage appearance and are shown in the photographs. At 18 cm high, the vase has a compact but distinctive presence. It works well as a standalone object on a sideboard, console or open shelf and can also be grouped with other white and gold porcelain pieces from the same period. Heinrich & Co. was founded by Franz Heinrich in Selb, Bavaria, in 1896. The company developed into an important German porcelain manufacturer known for refined tableware and decorative porcelain. Heinrich became part of Villeroy & Boch in 1976.
