An exceptional, fine and impressive 18th century Norwegian silver drinking cup; part of our continental silverware collection This fine and impressive antique Norwegian 18th century silver drinking cup has a circular rounded form. The surface of this antique silver drinking cup is embellished with bands of tooled decoration, in addition to the contemporary engraved initials 'N.A.S'. This impressive and rare example of antique silverware bears an applied moulded border to the upper rim. The base of the cup retains the silversmith's centre punch mark. The hallmarks struck to the underside of this impressive 18th century cup include: Maker's mark: Untraced City mark: Bergen, Norway Assay mark: IK 1753 This fine tumbler cup has been independently tested using state of the art technology (Niton XL2 Analyzer) and verified as 900 standard silver. Such drinking cups in Norwegian silver are rare to the market and highly desirable. Condition This 18th century antique silver drinking cup is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. This piece has minor blemishes and surface wear in keeping with age. The Norwegian hallmarks struck to the underside of the drinking vessel are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of antique Georgian silverware. An exceptional, fine and impressive antique William III English Britannia silver porringer, an addition to our 18th century silverware collection. This antique William III Britannia standard silver porringer has a circular rounded form. The lower portion of this 17th century silver porringer is embellished with chased alternating fluted decoration accented with an engraved simplified scalloped border. The upper portion is encircled with a chased rope twist decorated girdle. The decoration to the anterior surface displays the contemporary pin struck initials 'R.T A.D' and the date '1697'. This Britannia silver porringer is fitted with two rope twist decorated S scroll handles. Britannia Silver - The Britannia silver standard of 958 (95.84% of fine silver), denoted by the icon of the seated Britannia holding an oval shield, was introduced by William III in 1697.
