I Bizantini represents an assortment of artisan handblown Murano glass drinking vessels and tumblers reflecting the historic spirit of Venice. The series draws inspiration from the multi-layered patterns found in Byzantine mosaics—incorporating an imperial aesthetic directly into a modern form. Each individual glassware piece offers an exploration of light, depth, and texture, highlighted by an asymmetrical placement of colored glass accents that yields a tactile feel. Produced by the Murano glassmaker Dario Frare the making process requires technical skill. The molten matrix is rolled over an argento esterno (exposed silver leaf) background, allowing the external silver foil to achieve a partial, monitored oxidation that shifts into warm golden tones. Macie tociate (glass spots) are scattered across the surface before the piece is hand-opened, allowing Dario to introduce surface variations that ensure no two pieces are identical. The current listing showcases the Tramonto Eclectic Set, a curation where each glass carries a distinct colorway from a saturated palette. It features a blend of contrasting colors—including crimsons, forest greens, teals, and mineral tones—all brought together by the overlay of oxidized silver leaf. Please note that, alongside this eclectic mix, custom sets of six glasses can also be created in any single color from the featured selection. Designed for collectors, I Bizantini unites the energy of centuries-old Venetian craftsmanship with luxury. Rather than standard table accessories, these objects stand as pieces of Venetian heritage produced for contemporary living.
