About the Item

A striking pair of vintage shell goblets handcrafted from natural mother-of-pearl shell, likely made in the Philippines circa the 1980s. These sculptural pieces feature elegantly flared cups with integrated carved handles, resting on solid, stepped shell bases that display beautiful organic growth rings and luminous iridescence. The warm, pearlescent tones shift subtly in the light, highlighting the natural beauty of the shell material. Originally acquired as a honeymoon souvenir, these goblets reflect the rich tradition of Filipino shell craftsmanship and the resort-inspired decorative objects popular in the late 20th century. More substantial and sculptural than typical capiz shellware, they were intended primarily as decorative or ceremonial pieces rather than everyday drinkware, making them ideal for display, bar styling, or as accent objects in a curated interior. Condition is good vintage overall. One goblet shows a more visible wear line along the rim (see close-up images), consistent with age and gentle use, while the second goblet presents lighter surface wear. No cracks or structural damage observed. Natural variations, tonal shifts, and subtle irregularities are inherent to genuine shell and should be considered part of their character. Please note: we also have a matching set of four shell wine glasses available, perfect for creating a cohesive and distinctive table or bar display. A unique and collectible pair well suited for coastal, eclectic, tropical modern, or Hollywood Regency interiors. All of our orders are carefully packed and shipped within 24–48 hours.
