About the Item

An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver goblet, an addition to our wine and drinks related silverware collection. This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver goblet has a plain bell shaped form onto a baluster shaped pedestal and circular foot. The surface of the antique silver goblet is plain and embellished with the contemporary bright cut engraved monogram initials 'CS' below the crest of an otter, holding in the mouth a fish. The circular spreading foot is encircled with an applied border to the rim. The interior of this Victorian silver goblet retains the original gilding. This exceptional goblet was crafted by the renowned London silversmith Stephen Smith of S Smith & Son. Condition This antique Victorian silver goblet is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The piece has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the goblet are very clear; the maker's mark has some wear in keeping with age and location, but remains legible. An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver goblet; an addition to our collection of wine and drinks related silverware This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver goblet has a circular bell shaped form onto a knopped stem and circular spreading foot. The body of this 1870s silver goblet is embellished with bright cut engraved foliate festoons accented with pensile leaf drops; these vertical designs form four cartouches. The cartouche to one side bears a bright cut engraved fruit design; the further three remain vacant. The knopped stem is encircled with a plain moulded border to the centre. The foot is ornamented with further bright cut engraved overlapping arch designs, accented with an applied bead decorated border to the rim. Condition This antique 1870s silver goblet is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The goblet has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition. The bright cut engraved decoration is very crisp and the applied ornamentation is very sharp.
