About the Item

Important and extremely rare sculptural centerpiece produced by Vibi Torino in the 1950s, executed in richly glazed ceramic with an extraordinary biomorphic “double leaf” form characteristic of the company’s most imaginative postwar creations. The composition unfolds through two elongated, interwoven shell-like volumes that seem to float around one another in perfect balance, creating a dynamic silhouette of remarkable elegance and movement. The pointed overlapping extremities evoke organic forms suspended between leaf, fish and wing, giving the piece a highly expressive and almost surreal presence. The exterior features Vibi Torino’s distinctive incised linear decoration, applied by hand in rhythmic herringbone-like strokes beneath a deep cinnamon-brown glaze, contrasting beautifully with the luminous buttery yellow interior. Over time, the glaze has developed a magnificent 1950s patina, with subtle tonal shifts and warm chromatic variations that enrich the surface and emphasize its vintage authenticity. This model perfectly embodies the refined experimental spirit of Vibi Torino productions during the Italian mid-century period, where ceramic objects became true sculptural artworks rather than purely decorative vessels. The extraordinary asymmetrical design and refined craftsmanship place this centerpiece among the most sophisticated and collectible ceramic creations of the era. A highly important collector’s piece intended for true connoisseurs of Italian design and artistic ceramics.
