About the Item

A magnificent, fine and impressive, composite set of four Victorian English sterling silver candlesticks in the Charles II style; an addition to our Victorian silverware collection. These magnificent antique Victorian candlesticks have been crafted in the Charles II style. The stepped square capital of each candlestick retains the original hallmarked push fit sconce. The capitals of these Victorian candlesticks are supported by impressive circular bosses onto cylindrical Doric style columns. The impressive column of each candlestick surmounts an impressive feature waisted knop and swept square base. Each candlestick does not have a weighted base. One pair of candlesticks were crafted by George Fox in 1875 and it can be assumed that the owner commissioned the second matching pair, created by Robert Dicker in 1893. Condition These candlesticks are an exceptional gauge of silver, fine quality and in exceptional condition. The full hallmarks struck to surface of the George Fox pair are all clear. The pair of candlesticks made by Robert Dicker have full hallmarks. Dimensions Height 25.2cm/9.9". Diameter of column 4cm/1.6" approximately. Width of base 16.2cm/6.4" square. An exceptional, fine and impressive set of four of antique George V English sterling silver piano candlesticks; an addition to our antique silverware collection. These exceptional, fine and impressive antique George V sterling silver piano candlesticks have a cylindrical form onto a square spreading base. The Corinthian capital of each retains the original hallmarked detachable push fit sconce, ornamented with an embossed bead decorated border to the rim. The capitals are supported by a classic column, encircled with vertical fluted decoration. The lower portion of each column features a plain rounded knop to a spreading square base. The surface of the bases are each ornamented with embossed scrolling leaf and stylised bud swag designs. The rims are encompassed with bead decoration above further fluted designs, reflecting that of the column. A fine and impressive, pair of antique George VI English sterling silver candlesticks; part of our ornamental silverware collection. These impressive antique 1930s English sterling silver candlesticks have a plain subtly tapering columnar form. The impressive Corinthian capital of each retains the original hallmarked detachable push fit sconce ornamented with embossed bead decoration to the rim. The subtly tapering panelled columns are supported by a circular boss to a square swept foot. The base of each candlestick is embellished with a band of embossed floral rosette and bud garlands, flanked with bead decorated borders. Both candlesticks have weighted bases and are fitted with green baize to the underside.
