About the Item

Early stoneware pottery beer/ale bottle marked D.L.O. & Son that is remarkable intact. Dorman Leonard Ormsby appears in the business directory for Manhattan, New York, at multiple addresses from 1861 to 1877. The bottling company produced mineral water, soda and beer. Stamp is deeply impressed and it is in the "paneled" shape with 12 sides. It is a tan clay --salt-glazed earthenware -- with a pressed base and rounded tapper. No stopper. Very good vintage condition. No chips. Beautiful example from the era. Measures 10" high x 3.75" diameter Top outer 1.5" Top inner .75" Weighs 2 lbs 8 oz. Likely holds 1 quart of liquid.
