About the Item

This pair of wall pockets are sculptures are marked by an unknown maker, but originated from Japan and date to approximately 1940 and done in the period Mid-Century Modern style. The wall pockets or sculptures are made of ceramic and depict stylized Harlequin masks, or grotesque alien faces if you prefer. The pockets are done in a turquoise gloss glaze with cream toned accents and the faces are done in a matte finish. The wall pockets are stamped on the backs as being made in Japan.
