About the Item

An impressive pair of vintage Garrard & Co. cut crystal decanters, each mounted with a sterling silver collar and dating to approximately the 1980s. The substantial square-form crystal bodies are extensively decorated with two scales of traditional diamond cutting, with the larger, deeper pattern concentrated across the lower sections. Each decanter terminates in a finely star-cut base, producing attractive reflections through the heavy crystal. The pair retain their original substantial square crystal stoppers, themselves decorated with complementary diamond cutting. Measuring four inches square and weighing approximately 1.9 kg each, these are notably substantial decanters with excellent presence and quality in the hand. The silver collars are by Garrard & Co. Ltd., Regent Street, London, one of Britain's most prestigious historic silversmiths and jewellers, long associated with royal commissions and luxury silverware. An elegant matched pair ideally suited to a sophisticated drinks cabinet or bar, as well as an attractive gift for a collector of British silver and crystal. Maker: Garrard & Co. Ltd.
