About the Item

A fine complete set of 12 Dutch Delft calendar plates. Issued by the Metropolitan Museum of Art and sold through their gift store. Manufactured by Westraven, a subsidiary of Royal Delft Pottery (or Koninklijke Porceleyne Fles). Each with blue underglaze decoration of scenes depicting activities connected to each month - March has a gardening scene, July has a sheep shearing scene, September has a harvesting scene, and December has an ice skating scene. It is our understanding that this set is a copy of a set of 'calendar' plates by De Porceleyne Bijl gifted Cornelius Vanderbilt in 1927 to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1927. (Acc. No. 27.143.1-12). Marked as First Edition plates and made in Holland to the reverse. Simply a wonderful complete set! Date: 20th Century Overall Condition: They are in overall good, as-pictured, used estate condition, with no chips, cracks, or repairs. Condition Details: There are a few visible glaze scratches here and there. Otherwise, there are some fine & light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age.
