About the Item

A very eye-catching 19th Century set of eight Vallauris-style ceramic oyster plates and a serving dish decorated in vibrant polychrome enamel in wonderful shades of chocolate, crimson and yellow. Each of the smaller dishes is divided into sections, and is designed to accommodate six oysters with a lemon in the central partition. The plates are in good overall condition, and still very shiny, with some tiny imperfections and chips in places. Ideal for seasonal entertaining, they would also make an impressive and chic gallery wall.
