About the Item

From Wedgwood, an English majolica glazed, scallop shell shaped seafood salad plate, date marked 1892 The classic mottled tortoiseshell finish makes these plates very desirable. Each plate shows a variation of the tortoiseshell glazing of green, ochre, and brown with an iridescent sheen. Impressed: Wedgwood with the date cipher U for the year 1892. Multiple plates are available for building a set. Each plate is uniquely hand painted. The glazing on the verso of one plate differs from the other seven pieces. 8.5 in. L x 8 5 in. W x 1 in. H All plates are in very good antique condition.
