About the Item

A superb antique Moser Bohemian glass decanter, hand-blown in a rich ruby-cranberry glass and embellished with exceptionally delicate needle-engraved and gilded decoration. The elegant elongated form features intricate cross-hatched patterns, dotted details and scrolling cloud-like motifs characteristic of highly accomplished Bohemian decorative glass. Fine double gilt bands encircle the waist of the neck, while heavier gilding highlights the upper rim, creating a luxurious contrast against the saturated ruby glass. The original matching stopper continues the decorative scheme with corresponding double gilt bands. The underside displays a large, finely polished pontil, while the substantial weight and quality of the glass demonstrate the accomplished craftsmanship associated with luxury Bohemian production. Attributed to Moser, the celebrated Czech glass manufacturer renowned for supplying elaborate glassware to European aristocratic and royal households. A particularly elegant and unusual piece for a collection of Moser or fine Bohemian art glass.
