About the Item

A vibrant Venetian medium-large glass scent bottle (just under 6 inches tall) with original glass stopper and metal hinged cap and chatelaine chain attachment. The glass sent bottle is from Murano and was made c1890. The finely moulded metal stopper is attached to a chatelaine hanging chain and is finely hinged, when opened it reveals the original glass stopper a tiny piece of blue and white venetian glass attached to a spiralled wire covered by cork (with minor losses to the cork -see last picture) -original inner stoppers like this are very rare. The relatively lightweight bottle is cased and displays a wide variety of colours predominantly mid blue with streaks of green, red and dark blue together with aventurine. A fabulous example of period Venetian/Murano glass with original cap and inner stopper -sadly we have not managed to identify the glass house that made it -Salviati is the most likely.

Émile Gallé Art Nouveau Cameo Glass Perfume Bottle, Nancy, France, circa 1900 Rare Art Nouveau perfume bottle by Gallé, Nancy, France, executed in finely crafted cameo glass and dating to the early twentieth century. Standing 12.5 cm high, the bottle features a warm amber ground overlaid with a deep brown layer intricately acid-etched and wheel-carved to depict stylized floral and foliate motifs. The elegant tapering form is enhanced by its original gilt-metal collar, reflecting its intended use as a luxury vanity object.
