About the Item

Beautiful and rare set consisting of 1 jug and 6 drinking cups executed in the very rare ‘Pulegoso” technique and in amazing Jade Green tonalities. The size and color of the cups vary slightly as these are all individually hand made. Small bio sourced online: Napoleone Martinuzzi was a renowned Italian sculptor, designer born in 1892 on the island of Murano. Martinuzzi studied sculpture at the Fine Arts Academy in Venice and Rome, and his work was exhibited at Ca' Pesaro from 1908 to 1920 as part of the Secessionist movement ². In 1921, he became the director of the Murano Museum, and four years later, he joined Venini & C. as a partner and artistic director ¹. During his time at Venini, Martinuzzi developed a unique style and is particularly famous for creating "pulegoso" glass, which features air bubbles within the glass. Jug measures 21 cm tall with a 19 cm diameter and a width of 22 cm with the hadle. The cups measure on average 11 cm tall with a 7.5 cm diameter. There are no damages to any of these pieces. Note: if considering these as functional pieces in your collection we advise you to consider the fragility of the pieces, the jug should not be held by the handle if filled with liquid as the weight could cause it to break.
