A striking example of Mexican Modernism and Taxco silversmithing, this exceptional mid-century water pitcher was designed and manufactured by the renowned Los Castillo workshop in Taxco, Mexico during the 1960s. Executed in solid brass with a rich silver-plated finish, the piece embodies the innovation and artistry that defined the Mexican silver movement pioneered by William Spratling and carried forward by master artisans such as Antonio Castillo, Margot de Taxco, and Salvador Pineda. The sculptural form is elevated by a substantial handle inlaid with natural malachite, showcasing deep green tonal variation and organic texture. The body is adorned with a stylized bird and floral motif, intricately inlaid with malachite and lapis lazuli, a signature technique of Los Castillo that merges traditional silversmithing with modernist design language. The interior retains a warm golden tone, contrasting beautifully with the polished exterior—an elegant detail often found in high-quality Taxco silver and plateado works.
