18th-century Chinese Export Porcelain Famille Rose Flower Basket & Butterfly Dish
This Chinese export porcelain dish, circa 1765, is painted in famille rose enamels with a wicker flower basket at the center, filled with peaches, a striped melon, and a profusion of pink, purple, and lilac blossoms spilling over the sides. A large butterfly with iron-red and gilt-speckled wings hovers above it, and three further sprays of flowers and fruit are set around the remaining sides of the well.
