About the Item

A beautiful and highly unique Mexican silverplate sugar holder, strongly reminiscent of the refined Taxco craftsmanship associated with Los Castillo. The form, detailing, and overall aesthetic reflect the iconic mid-century Mexican modern style for which Los Castillo is celebrated. While unmarked, the piece displays the distinctive look and quality often seen in work produced by artisans trained in the Los Castillo workshops. It was common for skilled makers to apprentice under well-known Taxco designers and later produce closely related pieces using the same traditional materials and techniques. A striking and sophisticated accent for a kitchen counter, bar cart, or breakfast table—both functional and sculptural, and a wonderful conversation piece.
