About the Item

A square ceramic tray or bowl featuring a deep red "Fat Lava" interior glaze and a dark brown gradient rim, typical of West German production. The bottom of the bowl bursts with a vibrant, glossy crimson red. This intense color, reminiscent of magma or blazing fire, was one of the most sought-after hallmarks of German ceramics of the period. Between the dark brown of the rim and the red of the body, there is a fascinating transitional band where the two glazes blend, creating an almost “burnt” effect. The numbers at the bottom 341-28 unequivocally identify this piece as a creation by Scheurich Keramik, one of the most famous and important ceramic manufacturers in West Germany: 341 identifies the model as a square bowl with rounded corners and high sides, 28 indicates the width of the piece, which measures exactly 28 centimeters.
