About the Item

Rectangular photo frame in 800/1000 silver gold plated with fire enamels. External cm. 13.4 x 17.4 Internal cm. 9 x 13. Weight gr. 199. Created in Art Deco style for Cartier USA in the 1980s, inspired by drawings by Louis Cartier from the early 1900s. Made in Florence in the Salimbeni company headquarters with completely manual execution by artisan artists with thick and thick slabs reinforcements suitable for supporting numerous high-fire enamelled firings at approximately 750° < 800° C. This piece is the result of the close relationship of trust that the renowned Maison Cartier USA placed in the excellence and goldsmithing expertise of the Salimbeni firm, which it turned to for the creation of rare and niche collections. Cartier management sent its basic designs directly to the Florentine atelier, inspired by objects designed by Louis Cartier around 1920. It was then up to the talented Giorgio Salimbeni to rework and adapt these ideas to the collections chosen by the parent company, which approved each individual project before production. Designed in 1980 and produced in a limited and extremely select edition at the Salimbeni workshops in Florence. Characterized by bold geometric shapes, sharp color contrasts, and enamels typical of the 1920s and 1930s, these sets immediately evoke the luxury of the era. This picture frame is a work of art, created entirely by hand by master craftsmen. Each piece retains its exceptional character: the process required a thick silver plate with sturdy reinforcements, essential for withstanding the complex and delicate firing of the enamel at high temperatures between 750° and 800° C. It is a new object that has never been used but is considered vintage because it was built more than 20 years ago.
