A loving cup presented to the Georgia Hussars of Savannah for the winning score in the calvary tilt that followed the unveiling ceremony for the Oglethorpe monument in Savannah on November 23rd, 1910. In relief: "The Oglethorpe Monument Cup - Tilting - 11th Cavalry USA; Governors Horse Guards, Atlanta, Ga; Georgia Hussars, Savannah, Ga. Won by Georgia Hussars - Nov. 23rd, 1910." The Daniel Chester French monument bronze depicted in relief on reverse with applied cotton boll ornamentation. Gorham; marked “sterling, 4022A, 15 pints” with hallmarks 14 inches wide by 9 inches deep by 16 inches tall 108 troy ounces

An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Edwardian English sterling silver cup & cover; an addition to our antique presentation silverware collection. This exceptional antique Edwardian sterling silver presentation cup & cover has a campania shaped form onto a circular spreading pedestal foot. The lower bulbous portion of body is encircled with chased fluted ornamentation. Either side of the plain upper portion of the body of this cup is embellished with an exceptional and large applied ribbon tied laurel branch wreath, replicating the border of a Classic cartouche. This impressive presentation cup retains the original hallmarked cover surmounted with an exceptional, Fine and impressive sterling silver overlapping leaf, bead and bud style finial. The rim of the cover is encompassed with an impressive applied egg and dart decorated border. This antique cup and cover is fitted with two very impressive handles modelled in the form of conjoined snakes, above a figural mask and Caduceus*. The pedestal is encompassed with a shaped leaf decorated knop to the upper portion in junction with the body.
