About the Item

This sterling silver tea and coffee set is comprised of a tray, a kettle with a burner stand, a tea and coffee pot, milk jug, sugar bowl and a tea strainer in a bowl. The set is fully hallmarked and inscribed, ‘STERLING 975/CAMUSSO/MADE IN PERU’. The company, Carlo Mario Camusso, was founded in 1933 in Peru. They exported luxury silverware across the world to many important patrons, including royalty. The tray is left unadorned at its centre, but is bordered by a frilled edge, set with decorative cartouches, and fitted with two curvy handles. The holloware items are similarly designed, with bulbous, partially fluted bodies, which stand on four feet. The kettle, tea and coffee pot each feature a long spout, a single handle, and hinged, fluted lids, which are topped by pointed finials. The kettle’s handle is not attached to the lower body, but is fixed to the neck on both sides, so that it loops over the lid. The twin-handled sugar bowl is also covered with a lid. The milk jug has a single handle, like the tea and coffee pot, and an open mouth, with a extended lip. Set in a shallow bowl, the tea strainer is fitted with a handle, fluted along its edge and punctured with holes for the tea to drain through. This set will make a wonderful addition to a fine collection of silver table- and serveware.
