About the Item

An exceptional, fine and impressive pair of antique Victorian English sterling silver goblets; an addition to our range of wine and drink related silverware These exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver goblets have a plain circular bell shaped form onto a knopped waisted pedestal, to a circular spreading foot. The surface of each vessel is embellished with impressive bright cut engraved strapwork and leaf decoration, accented with simplified swags and pensile drops. The decoration to either side of each goblet incorporates an oval cartouche; one side displays the contemporary engraved initial 'L', and the other 'G'. The upper rims are encompassed with bright cut engraved Greek key decorated borders. The lower portion of each drinking vessel is embellished with an impressive layered petal and leaf motif, accented with a matte textured background. The knops to the waisted pedestals of these Victorian goblets are encompassed with applied decoration. The circular spreading foot of each goblet is encircled with further Greek key decoration, in addition to an applied bead decorated border to the rim. Condition These antique Victorian goblets are an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. Each goblet has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition. The bright cut engraved decoration is very crisp. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of each goblet are all very clear.
