Hallmarked in London in 1781 by Hester Bateman this elegant George III antique sterling silver sauce boat is of a helmet shape with a loop handle, standing on an oval pedestal foot. The body is decorated with fine bright-cut engraving, including neoclassical cartouches with a engraved crest to one side, and armorial to the other. It measures 6.5"(16.5cm) tall by 8.75"(22cm) from handle to lip and 4"(10cm) deep, and weighs 12 troy ounces.
