Portugal Large hand-painted fish tureen. Decorative and humorous tureen shaped as a fish with lid and matching ladle. Hand-painted in vivid tones of red, green, and grey, with finely modelled details in the fins and scales. A characterful and rare serving piece combining function with sculptural presence. Origin: Portugal. Material: Hand-painted ceramic. Dimensions: H. 18 cm, W. 24 cm, L. 42 cm. Period: Mid-20th century. Condition: Excellent condition with minor signs of wear. Portuguese ceramics and faience are known for their colourful and imaginative designs, often inspired by the sea and natural motifs. Tureens like this became popular in the mid-20th century, serving both as functional tableware and decorative centrepieces.
