Late 19th - Early 20th Century Folk Art Carved and Painted Carousel Menagerie Standing Figure of a Chipmunk, in the Philadelphia style, circa 1880s to 1920s, a scarce menageries figure and exceptionally rare animal, a child's stationary figure made for the outer ring on a carousel, flat carved in original paint with finely painted details, all original with very worn leather seat and iron base brackets canted to give the figure a racy lean to the inner side. Marked #18 on the base and #2 on the figure. Likely by the Dentzel Company in Pennsylvania, circa 1900, or possibly Morriss, both of whom were eventually associated with the Philadelphia Toboggan Company.
