About the Item

Green glazed stoneware large floor vase by Patrick Crulis. 2024. Unique piece. Approximate dimensions : 28.3 x 15.7 x 15.7 inches. - Born in 1965 in Versailles, he lives and works in Les Archers, 18170 Le Châtelet-en-Berry, France. Trained at the Lycée de Sèvres under Andrée Hirlet (ceramics), then at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris where he studied painting with Albert Zavaro before joining Christian Boltanski’s multimedia studio, Patrick Crulis developed a plural approach to artistic creation from an early stage. After several years devoted to teaching visual arts and painting, he chose in 2003 to settle in central France to fully dedicate himself to ceramic sculpture. His works, made in glazed stoneware, are distinguished by their expressive intensity and assertive gestural quality, akin to a form of ceramic expressionism. They reflect a constant exploration of the plasticity of clay, the fluidity of color, and a rejection of the overly finished surface in favor of vibrant spontaneity. Awarded numerous prizes, Patrick Crulis has seen his works enter several public and private collections in France and abroad.
