About the Item

Vintage hand-made studio pottery glazed ceramic lidded teapot - applied and articulated terracotta gargoyle face - the tongue of the beast forming the handle of the teapot - indistinctly signed with the artist's cipher below the handle (as photographed) - mid 20th century. Covered with a frothy pink glaze over a slightly crackled celadon glaze - all on a white ceramic body and lid - a thin clear glaze covers the terracotta handle and gargoyle face. This teapot was never intended for use - it showcases the potter's artistic and ceramic skills. Good vintage condition - with a couple of small chips to the ears of the gargoyle (the largest one photographed) - irregular glaze and ceramic body consistent with studio pottery and hand made items - minor grime to the terracotta - minor wear and tear from age and use. Size - 6 1/4" Wide x 3 5/8" Deep x 5 7/8" High.
