His pioneering work is the culmination of a meticulous decade-long scientific experiment, during which rugs were exposed to the harsh environmental elements of Northern Sweden. This rigorous process enabled Henzel to draw inspiration from natural phenomena such as erosion, the thawing of snow, and seasonal germination, observing how these elements affected the rugs. The outcomes of this experiment were meticulously translated into his designs, which are intricately woven using centuries-old artisan practices. Henzel's work embodies a profound connection to nature, seamlessly integrating exceptional craftsmanship and artistry. His creations are a harmonious blend of innovation and tradition. Henzel Studio is a Swedish family company, based in Gothenburg, founded in 1999 by the artist Calle Henzel and his wife Asa. Henzel produces luxury carpets featuring exclusive designs of contemporary art, signed by big names of art, graphics, design and of international photography: Scott Campbell, Helmut Lang, Richard Prince and many others. Crossing the border between craft, art and design, rugs by Henzel Studio are distributed through the best galleries in the world of design and are handmade using 100% New Zealand wool, one of the purest natural fibers in the world, where the material is dyed exclusively with ecological pigments from Switzerland. Calle Henzel experimented with a new form of art where form, finishes and treatments, combined with high quality standards, they ensure the carpets as a true work of art, an investment intended to last forever.
