About the Item

Carved wood walking stick by Vernon Edwards, one of the Savannah “Stick Men,” with a natural monkey vine shaft carved with birds and a snake, and an incised VE monogram at the end of the shaft. Edwards worked in Pooler, Georgia, and became known for walking sticks and sculptural carvings, including snakes, hands, figures, and related motifs. His work was featured in the Telfair Museum’s Masters of the Walking Stick exhibition. 5 inches wide by 2 inches deep by 31 ¼ inches tall. Good condition with age-related wear, surface variation, and expected handmade irregularities. from the Collection of John and Virginia Duncan, Savannah, GA
