About the Item

Doll, Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, S. Dakota A wonderful "No Face Doll", made by an unknown artist. The green wool dress is adorned with small glass beads on the front and back of the bodice and in two rows above the hem. Small cowrie shells are stitched on to the entire central portion of the dress, which is bordered at the sleeves and hem in red wool. Beaded moccasins and leggings complete her outfit. Dentalium shell earrings dangle 2.5 inches, capped with cowrie shells; sold with metal base. 11 inches (28 cm) high, 4 inches (10 cm) wide. Ex Roslyn Tunis estate, Oakland, CA
