1960s Brutalist Copper Pendant Lamp with Embedded Glass Jewels
Unusual and atmospheric pendant lamp from the 1960s, manufactured by Peill + Putzler in Germany. The cylindrical shade is made of patinated copper and features a series of round perforations, each inset with glass cabochons in warm amber, yellow and white tones. When lit, the lamp emits a soft, jewel-like glow through these embedded glass elements, creating a warm and intimate ambiance.
A fine example of Mid-Century Brutalist design, this piece stands out for its handcrafted aesthetic and sculptural presence. The technique used for these lamps was developed in Murano, Italy: the glass is blown directly into the copper while it is still hot, making it impossible to remove the glass afterward.
