About the Item

Sculptural Danish stoneware pendant lamp by Axella Stentøj, Denmark, dating from the 1970s. The handmade ceramic shade is finished in a rich cream glaze with deep blue, brown and amber tones. Raised geometric decoration surrounds the body, while pierced openings around the upper and lower sections allow warm points of light to shine through when illuminated. A particularly attractive feature is the original matching glazed stoneware ceiling canopy, decorated in the same blue, brown and cream palette as the pendant. The survival of this original ceramic ceiling plate gives the fixture a beautifully complete and cohesive appearance. The pendant is suspended from a long metal chain and is fitted with one E27 light socket. Marked on the interior “AXELLA Design” and “STENTØJ,” together with model number 1003.
