21.14 Porcelain chandelier lamp by Bocci Dimensions: Round canopy: diameter 50.8 x height 300 cm Rectangular canopy: D 28.4 x W 85 x H 300 cm Materials: Porcelain, borosilicate glass, braided metal coaxial cable, electrical components, brushed nickel canopy. Lamping: 1.5w LED or 20w xenon. Nondimmable. Available with 350 cm height and, with round or rectangular canopy. Also available in different sizes. All our lamps can be wired according to each country. If sold to the USA it will be wired for the USA for instance. 21.14 is a random confi guration of fourteen 21 pendants hung from a round canopy. The drop lengths of the pendants are randomized between a client's specified range of heights to variously cluster and scatter. The result is an ambient installation or field of light. Inspired by the sporadic, discordant arrangement of barnacles on a rock surface, the 21 is fabricated from thin sheets of porcelain wrapped around a trumpet-shaped borosilicate diffuser. Each diffuser houses a low voltage lamp. A strong contrast is established between the organically distributed soft light passing through the white porcelain skin and the sharp, crisp light passing through the borosilicate glass diffuser. Bocci is a design and manufacturing company based in Vancouver and Berlin. Founded in 2005 under the creative directorship of Omer Arbel, Bocci is committed to fostering a lateral and open-ended relationship between creative direction and craft. The company launched with one lighting design, ‘14’, which became an instant classic and remains a design staple and bestseller. Bocci’s growing portfolio of sculptural lighting is developed, engineered, and fabricated in-house, through an infrastructure calibrated to provide full control over technique, quality, and scale. In 2015, Bocci transformed a historic Berlin building into a showroom and archive. ‘Bocci 79’ inhabited a 2,200 m² / 23,600 sq ft former courthouse, constructed in 1896, and showcased over a decade of works by Omer Arbel, ranging from pieces in progress, prototypes, and ideas, to the complete range of catalog pieces developed for Bocci. Bocci 79 closed in June 2020 and we are currently working on our new, permanent Berlin showroom which will open soon.
