About the Item

A suspended moon. That's what you see before it's turned on. After, it's something else entirely. The perfect milk glass globe — blown in a single piece, with no seams or relief — is an exercise in absolute restraint. There is no ornament. There doesn't need to be. The spherical form and the dense white of the glass are enough to command any space entrusted to them. The brass fitting, with its stepped profile, anchors the globe with a functional elegance characteristic of the forties: the moment when design began to trust proportion over decoration.
